What Is a Teaching Kitchen?

A teaching kitchen is a hands-on learning space where individuals can explore the connection between food, health, and wellness through cooking and nutrition education. At 麻豆天美传媒, our Teaching Kitchen, including a state-of-the-art mobile kitchen on the Pleasantville Campus, brings the concept of food as medicine to life. Open to students, faculty, and staff from across the university, the Teaching Kitchen provides an inclusive environment for learning practical cooking skills, understanding nutrition science, and building healthy habits. Supported by expert faculty and graduate students from the Nutrition and Dietetics program, the kitchen serves as a hub for wellness, collaboration, and community engagement.

Foundation of Culinary Nutrition

The Teaching Kitchen gives members of the Pace community the tools to use food as a foundation for better health. Through interactive demonstrations and educational programming, participants gain practical culinary skills and a deeper understanding of how nutrition plays a key role in preventing disease and supporting well-being. Nutrition and Dietetics faculty bring expertise in areas ranging from clinical nutrition and pediatric care to community outreach, entrepreneurship, and culinary education, ensuring diverse perspectives shape each experience in the kitchen.

Community-Focused

The Teaching Kitchen is deeply rooted in service and collaboration. Through partnerships with initiatives like the Feeding Westchester Mobile Market and the Pace Pleasantville Community Garden, the kitchen offers culinary nutrition programs that benefit not only the campus but the broader community. These efforts empower individuals to make informed food choices, address food insecurity, and experience the impact of nutrition on overall health, while also fostering a sense of connection, purpose, and shared wellness.

Commitment to Health Equity

Our Teaching Kitchen is dedicated to making culinary nutrition education accessible to all. By offering inclusive programming that reflects diverse cultural food traditions and addresses systemic barriers to food access, we help ensure that every member of the Pace community has the opportunity to learn, cook, and thrive. From hands-on workshops to wellness events, the kitchen champions sustainable practices, food equity, and lifelong healthy eating habits for all.
